Maple Baked Beans
- 4 cups water
- 1 pound dried beans
- 1 Tbs. oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup or more Hall Farms Pure Maple Syrup (dark)
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 Tbs. minced fresh ginger root or 1 tsp. powdered ginger
- slice of salt pork or 2-3 slices of bacon (optional)
Simmer beans in 4 cups water for about 2 hours. Drain. Place onions, salt, Hall Farms Pure Maple Syrup, dry mustard, and ginger in bean pot. Add 2 cups water or enough to cover beans. Cover and bake at 350° F for 2 hours, adding water as needed, to keep beans moist.
After 2 hours, uncover beans and bake another 45 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed.
